At Keene Elementary School, we provide an engaging and supportive learning environment that meets the needs of every child.
In Language Arts, we use Benchmark Advance along with flexible grouping and targeted interventions to help students grow. Assessment data guides our instruction so that all students can reach their full potential. We focus on essential reading skills such as comprehension, phonemic awareness and oral fluency.
For Science, students learn through hands-on exploration using STEM kits and Amplify, encouraging curiosity and experimentation. In Math, we used the i-Ready program, which is both student and parent-friendly, connecting new concepts to students' prior experiences while building strong problem-solving skills. Technology is integrated throughout our instruction to enhance learning. Social Studies is taught using the Delaware Recommended Curriculum (DRC), which is a state guide that helps students learn about history, government, geography and culture while building skills to think critically and understand the world around them.
Beyond academics, students benefit from a caring network of support, including a school counselor and other staff dedicated to their well-being. They also participate in weekly specials such as Art, Music, Physical Education and Guidance.
Our school community take pride in traditions and events like Family Fun Night, Math and Reading Night and Pi Day, and many more, which strengthen connections between students, families, and staff.
