Counseling Services

  • Individual Counseling

I will provide individual counseling for students who need support regarding their personal, social and academic needs. Individual counseling is available to all students at the request of parents, teachers, school staff, and students. During individual counseling, I provide a safe and comfortable environment for students to discuss any issues they are having. Parent consent is required for individual counseling and all sessions are confidential. Topics are based on the needs of the student and may include: friendship issues, social skills, self-esteem, grief/loss, divorce/family changes and development of academic skills.

    Group Counseling

I will be running small counseling groups throughout the school year. Small counseling groups are designed to provide counseling in a small group setting for students sharing similar issues and concerns. Group counseling is available to all students at the request of parents, teachers, school staff, and students. Parent consent is required for group counseling and all sessions are confidential. These groups usually last about 30 minutes and run for approximately 6-8 weeks. Topics are based on the needs of the students and may include: divorce/family changes, friendship, social skills, self-esteem, grief/loss and study skills.

    Classroom Guidance Lessons

I will be visiting each classroom once a month to provide guidance lessons. The purpose of these lessons is to provide all students with a comprehensive developmental curriculum. These lessons focus on the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students. I will be providing a brief, informational section in the school newsletter after each lesson describing what we did during classroom guidance. Topics may include: bully prevention, feelings, friendship, study skills, character development, self-esteem, conflict resolution, decision making, safety awareness and career awareness.
