Hi, I'm Mr. Dombchik. I will be your instructor for the 2024-2025 school year. I have worked in the Christina School District for 32 years and this is my 30th year at Christiana High School. I am the Director of Bands, where I am responsible for directing the Viking Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, the Beginning and Advanced Steel Drum Band and the Pit Band for the annual musical. For my sixth year, I will be directing the Middle School Honors Academy 8th Grade Band. My course load may also include piano/music technology. I am the Christiana High School Campus Visual and Performing Arts Department/Electives Chair and CSD Co-Music Department Chair.
I received my Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Delaware in 1993 and completed my Master of Instruction degree from the University of Delaware's School of Education in 2011. I was proud to represent Christiana High School/Middle School Honors Academy as the Christina School District 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year and the DMEA 2020 Music Educator of the Year.
Along with being a music teacher at Christiana High School and Middle School Honors Academy, I am also a private percussion instructor and freelance musician. I tend to do a lot of work in churches, jazz combos, and pit orchestras for musical theaters. I am the percussionist for Lori Citro and the Accidentals and I am a composer of original piano compositions that include several pieces about my family. I hope to record all of them someday. (After I retire!)
I have been married 25 years to my wife Dawn. We have two beautiful children: Michael and Megann.
