My name is Kate Bartkowski and I will be your child's first grade regular education teacher this year at Oberle Elementary. I have spent the last 13 years as a first grade teacher at Bayard, Stubbs and Oberle Elementary school. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Delaware and then went on to get my masters in Reading from Wilmington University. I have 13 years of experience teaching students strategies needed for a successful year of first grade!

 

In March 2008, I had my first child...a boy named Carter. In 2011, I had my daughter, Lucy. I love spending time with my children and my husband. I also enjoy reading, traveling, and shopping.

 

My teaching philosophy is that each child is unique and learns differently.  One of my jobs as a teacher is to help your child discover his or her strengths and to assist with any academic and behavioral struggles. I believe in hands-on experiences, creative learning, and being flexible when it comes to your child's individual instruction. I am really looking forward to a fun-filled and educational school year!
