Greetings, parents and guardians!  For the fourth and final marking period, the second-grade team has been hard at work creating fun and engaging lessons for our students!  We would like to share what we have been studying in the various subject areas.  In reading, second graders have been studying words with various vowel combinations.  Writing-wise, our students have been reviewing how to create the five different types of writing (narrate, respond, inform, persuade, and instruct).  In math, the children have been learning about three-digit subtraction.  In social studies, students have been studying the unit, Scarcity and Wants. 

Additionally, our students will be able to participate in a variety of fun and educational activities!  On Wednesday, May 22^nd, our students will have the opportunity to earn participation in our “Color Wars” incentive.  Near the end of May, we will be having an academic field trip to the Smyrna Outpost.  Finally, as the year winds down, the entire second-grade staff would like to thank all of you for your support throughout the school year!  Enjoy your summer!
