On February 13, 2018, the Christina Board of Education approved an agreement with the Governor’s Office and the Department of Education that includes proposed changes to Bancroft, Elbert-Palmer, Pulaski, Stubbs, and Bayard schools. The agreement, called a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), includes new ideas for Wilmington schools to improve student achievement. An Implementation Team worked on the plan, which includes reconfiguration of Wilmington schools to create two schools serving grades 1-8, and a Dual Generation Center focusing on Kindergarten, Preschool, and parent and adult resources. These changes began in August 2018 and are scheduled to be completed by 2021.
The Christina School District Board of Education approved new attendance zones for Wilmington schools on November 13, 2018.
Beginning with the school year 2019-2020, Christina students in Wilmington will be served in three buildings:- Stubbs Early Education Center: serving students in preschool, pre-kindergarten, and kindergarten
- Pritchett Academy (Formerly The Bancroft School): serving students grades 1 through 6 for school year 2019-20, expanding to serve grades 1-7 school year 2020-21, and grades 1-8 for school year 2021-22
- The Bayard School: serving students grades 1 through 8 beginning school year 2019-20.
Implementation
