Child Find
Child Find
If you have concerns about your child’s development, you can have your child evaluated to determine if he/she is eligible for early intervention/early childhood special education services.
Child Find is a federally funded project in the State of Delaware, which locates, identifies and provides educational services to persons ages 0 – 21 who are not attending public school. In the Christina School District, a Child Find team is involved in screening, evaluating and recommending specific services for referred school aged children as well as preschool aged children.

Early Learning Program (formerly FACES)
Early Learning Program
The Early Learning Program (formerly Family Advocacy and Child Educational Services - FACES) is dedicated to providing positive educational experiences for Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf-Blind children and their families.
Within the program, we focus on positive child and family outcomes where we build a better future for children, families, and communities served by the program. To reach this goal, we work with families to ensure that every child is ready to be successful in kindergarten and beyond.
For more information, visit our Early Learning Program webpage.

Inclusive Practices
Inclusive Practices
Inclusive practices in special education reflect the intent of the law that children with disabilities be educated with their non-disabled peers to the greatest extent possible or appropriate. These laws set the precedent for all students, not just those with disabilities, to have the opportunity to be educated equally with their peers and disallow any child from being excluded, no matter how diverse from the general population the child may be. The Christina School District is currently implementing inclusive practices on a district-wide basis, following both state and federal laws -
Individualized Education Program (IEP)
Individualized Education Program (IEP)
Each public school child who receives special education and related services must have an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Each IEP must be designed for one student and must be a truly individualized document. The IEP creates an opportunity for teachers, parents, school administrators, related services personnel, and students (when appropriate) to work together to improve educational results for children with disabilities. The IEP is the cornerstone of a quality education for each child with a disability. -
Transition Services
Transition Services
The District offers Transition Services to any student who receives special education services. These services help the students, their families and school staff develop plans to transition the student from school into adult life.
