Middle School Uniform Dress Code

  • The Christina School District Dress Code is a set of guidelines that outline the standards for student attire while attending school. The goal of this protocol is to promote a sense of community, reduce distractions, and create a more focused learning environment. Students shall dress in clothes that promote a safe and respectful learning environment, in alignment with the Christina School District Student Manual.

All Christina School District (CSD) middle schools and select elementary schools (Jennie E. Smith Elementary and Albert H. Jones Elementary School) participate in the school uniform program. Students in participating schools are required to wear the designated school uniform during school hours, including when attending school-sponsored events or field trips, unless otherwise indicated by school administration. The following schools participate in the school uniform program:

    • The Bayard School (Grades 1-8)
    • Gauger-Cobbs Middle School (Grades 6-8)
    • George V. Kirk Middle School (Grades 6-8)
    • Albert H. Jones Elementary School (Grades K-5)
    • Maurice Pritchett Sr. Academy (Grades 1-8)
    • Shue-Medill Middle School (Grades 6-8)
    • Jennie E. Smith Elementary School (Grades K-5)

The following dress code applies to students who attend any Christina School District that participate in the Uniform Dress Code ( all middle schools and select elementary schools).
  • Uniform Components

    • Tops: Students may wear collared shirts in specific colors (See: Shirts).
    • Bottoms: Students may wear khaki or navy pants, shorts, skirts, or jumpers.
    • Footwear: Footwear must be worn at all times for safety reasons.

  • Exceptions*

    • Exceptions to the dress codes above will be made on a case-by-case basis in order to accommodate bona fide religious beliefs and special health conditions.
    • The wearing of official and approved school club and school or district organization apparel shall not be considered a violation of dress codes.
    • Building Administrators at each school shall have the discretion to designate “School Spirit Days” and other special dress days. Examples of such days include, but are not limited to, non-uniform days, jeans days, favorite jersey days, hat days, special theme days, etc.
    • Specific dress requirements may be assigned to students participating in technical labs or other classes or activities that necessitate the wearing of specific clothing in or to maintain the health and safety of students and others. These class or activity-specific dress requirements will be established by Building Administrators in conjunction with classroom teachers and will be delineated in the class, lab, or activity syllabus. Failure of a student to abide by these health and safety dress requirements may result in the student’s removal from that class, lab, or activity.
